Salford City midfielder Matty Lund looks ahead to Salford’s away fixture against Sutton United following their 2-1 win over Newport County.

The midfielder scored the opener in The Ammies’ first win of September, setting the path for his side’s first league win since beating Tranmere on August 19.

Lund spoke on the win saying: “It’s a bit of relief but at the same time we battled well and had good spells we had to battle it out was always going to be a tough game and a difficult last half hour or so.

“It was always going to be that type of game both team were looking for that victory after a poor run of games.

“We knew what we had to do just to get the three points was crucial for us at this stage.”

Neil Wood’s side will look to recapture their play-off form in October, travelling to London on Tuesday (October 3) to play Sutton United.

Amongst the celebrations of the weekends victory, Lund also spoke on the upcoming fixture between the struggling sides: “I think its going to be a difficult game again.

“We had a tough game there last year and we manage to win. We know what it’s going to be like its going to be a battle again.

Lund scored his first goal of the season in Salford’s win. The 31-year old continued to express his happiness to helping his side: “It felt good to finally get my goal, it’s been a long time coming. It’s nice to get a goal, especially here and hopefully I can get a couple more.”

The Ammies will look for their first back to back wins for the first time since April when they go south to Gander Green Lane, with a 7:45pm kick off.
