Numerous events in Salford have been cancelled or postponed following extreme weather across the city.
Salford City Academy’s sports day, which was postponed until tomorrow (Tuesday 18 July), has been forced to be cancelled due to extreme rain throughout the week.
Announced via Facebook this morning (Monday 17 July), the event was originally planned to take place last week, but was postponed until Tuesday due to last week’s weather. Students have been informed to attend school in regular uniform, with no confirmation on a revised date for the sports day.

The cancellation comes after Salford City FC’s pre-season fixture away at Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday 25 July was cancelled on Friday.
Last Saturday’s Wellbeing Walk at Blackleach Country Park with David Winnard was also postponed due to unprecedented weather conditions.
Despite the conditions, Salford Junior Parkrun and Salford Met AC braved the elements and completed a range of athletics events over the weekend.
Staff from Salford dog-walking business, Barkchester, shared images of their puddled pooches after being caught in the downpour.
This week is set to see rain continue across the city, with more events expected to be cancelled.
