Lowry re-opening line-up announced from 17 May

The Lowry in Salford has confirmed its re-opening line-up as the country enters the next phase of lockdown easing from May 17.

The first performance, which will take place outdoors from Tuesday May 18, is a critically acclaimed live production of C-O-N-T-A-C-T by Aria Entertainment and WEF Productions.

From Saturday May 22, the centre’s galleries will re-open at weekends on a timed-entry, socially-distanced operation – offering visitors both the permanent LS Lowry collection and the exhibition exploring Salford residents’ experiences of lockdown, Days Like These.

Chief executive Julia Fawcett said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be able to welcome people back to our building from next week – and what an exciting programme we have on offer.

“I’m incredibly proud of the work we have shared during lockdown – we embraced new technology and overcame hurdles that will influence the delivery of our programme and strengthen our organisation for the future.

“The approval to re-open of our building, however, is a much-welcomed development and we cannot wait to get those doors open again.”

The first indoor performance on the main Lyric Theatre stage will come from comedian Michael Spicer with his ‘The Room Next Door’ tour, which will be performed to a socially-distanced audience. Northern Ballet follows in the Lyric Theatre with a five-day run of Dangerous Liaisons from June 1-5.
