The Which Way Group have been providing a cooked Sunday Roast for members of the local community in Salford for just £2.50, including a two-course meal and drinks.
The group hands out meals every second and fourth Sunday of the month at the Beacon Youth Centre in Salford.
All proceeds from The Which Way Group’s fundraising efforts help to continually fund the group’s business venture and other social activities.
Ashton Wallwork, one of the organisers behind The Which Way Group, said: “Just over a year ago three of us set up a constituted group, we all met in a homeless shelter and we weren’t allowed to cook so we all put our money together and we were able to do a meal for the community.
“Each week it’s paid off to set up for the next one – it’s a year next week we’ve been doing it, we’ve served over 550 meals.
“A lot of the Self Reliant Group is about saving money, it’s about using it as a piggy bank for yourself. We’ve not actually gone down that route of saving money, we’ve put it all back into the community lunch”

The Which Way Group is a Self-Reliant Group, which help encourage vulnerable people back into work and employment by giving them the opportunity to start a business venture.
The group was founded after Ashton, along with Richard Ravenscroft, Kieran Wharton and James Higgins, met at the Narrowgate night shelter, where they were approached by Sarah Whitehead, company director of Community Pride.
Ms Whitehead said: “We’ve been working with The Which Way Group or The Sunday Roast Self Reliant Group for about a year now.
“It started with an idea in Scotland, bringing people together to share their skills, have somewhere to go and maybe start to put a business together.

“We approached some people at the local night shelter and we asked them “If you had an opportunity to change something in your daily life, what would it be?” and it would be that they would like to cook their own dinners and be able to eat together things that they’ve cooked. We organised for the group to get together once a week. That then grew into this Sunday Roast Group.
“When people asked us if they could join in we decided that people could join us and we’d charge £2.50 and that includes the food, the bingo and the drinks.”
