A host of miniature snowmen created by local primary schools, colleges and high schools joined the giant 12 Days of Christmas Snowmen around MediaCityUK from today.
More than 350 students from across Salford and Manchester visited The Lowry Outlet to take part in the launch of the mini snowmen trail and join the creative workshops organised by Wild in Art organisation.
Schoolkids came together to celebrate the launch of their 47 mini sculptures which are going to be exhibited until January 13.

Alexandra Flood, the head teacher at the Gorse Hall Primary and Nursery School in Stalybridge, said: ‘We were very very lucky to be a part of Manchester Bee Trail which children absolutely enjoyed. Following on from then, we were invited to be part of this snowman trail. Each class has designed a snowman and the chosen design team are the children who came down here today for the launch and to take part in the workshops. […] It’s a lovely way of schools coming together and embracing creativity.”
We spoke to Annie Laughring from Wild in Art organisation about the idea behind the event for the children: “We have recently organised a huge launch party for the big snowmen trail for everyone involved as well as our sponsors. We thought it would be a great idea to throw a launch event for the kids as well so they feel like a part of the project.”
