The Football Association has launched an investigation into an altercation between players and staff from both sides after the final whistle of yesterday’s Manchester derby.
Tempers flared in the dressing room area at Old Trafford after City claimed victory in the match thanks to goals from David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi.
The visitors set a record of 14 consecutive wins with the victory, which moved them 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

The fracas started when Jose Mourinho tried to get in the away changing room to raise issue with City’s noisy celebrations.
It is reported that he had a heated argument in Portuguese with blues goalkeeper Ederson, from which a shoving match ensued.

Further players and staff became involved with objects reported to have been thrown.
Mikel Arteta, who is on Pep Guardiola’s backroom staff, suffered a cut in the melee and was seen with blood pouring down his face. He was pictured covering his face when he arrived at training this morning.
Referee Michael Oliver made no mention of the incident in his match report and The FA have now asked both clubs for their observations.
United and City now have until Wednesday to submit their written accounts before the FA will decide whether or not to take any further action.
