MANCHESTER City and Chelsea have been charged by the Football Association with failure to control their players during Saturday’s match at the Etihad Stadium.
Antonio Conte’s team ran out 3-1 winners, however the game was marred by a late melee involving players from both teams after an ugly challenge from Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero on Chelsea’s Brazilian centre-back David Luiz.
City midfielder Fernandinho was amongst those involved and received a red card for his actions, however Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas, another protagonist, will receive no punishment.
Fernandinho received a three match ban while Aguero, who already saw red retrospectively earlier this season after an elbow on West Ham’s Winston Reid, was given a four match suspension.
The two teams have until 6pm on December 8 to respond to the charge.
