Salford City will face Premier League side Wolves in the Second Round of The Leasing.Com Trophy, which up until three seasons ago was exclusive to Sky Bet League 1 and 2 sides.
Since The Football League rebranded itself as the ‘EFL’ the competition has become highly criticised amongst fans due to the introduction of Premier League reserve sides.
Some Salford City fans aren’t pleased with the current format with one fan condemning The Leasing.Com Trophy, saying,”Never going to a game against kids. Made this trophy a joke. Boycott unless it’s a real team.”
While Ammies manager, Graham Alexander praised the competition by saying “It’s a good competition for teams at this level and we look forward to playing the game.”
The Ammies have already faced Aston Villa’s reserve team in the group stage. Preview (opens in a new window)
While other teams faced three sides in the group stage, Salford faced two (Aston Villa R. and Tranmere Rovers) because of the unfortunate events that happened nearby at Bury FC, winning both games 2-0.
Going into the game, Salford have no fresh injury or suspension concerns after their 0-0 draw at Macclesfield Town.
Tickets will be available on the gate and online; £10 for Adults, £5 for concessions and Under 5’s are free.
