Police, paramedics and firefighters have been called to Salford Quays after a body was found in the water.

Emergency services have been seen outside Salford Watersports Centre this afternoon.

Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that a body has been recovered from the water, but formal identification is yet to take place.

At least two police cars, one fire engine and one ambulance have been sent to the scene, where four officers are currently patrolling.

A forensic tent has been erected at the scene and a police cordon is in place.

GMP, North West Ambulance Service and Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for comment.

The Salford Watersports Centre is a year-round activity hub at Salford Quays offering watersports like kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing, windsurfing, and open water swimming for all ages and abilities.

It provides courses and hosts events for schools, clubs and corporate groups and is run by Salford Community Leisure.
