Historic Salford pub The Black Friar is set to re-launch their successful festive-themed menu ahead of the Christmas period.
The menu will be available from Monday, 17th November until Tuesday 30th November, with two courses costing £38 and three courses coming in at £46.
It will feature festive favourites from Monday to Saturday, including turkey ballotine, which is a deboned turkey breast stuffed with a flavourful filling, as well as a roast chestnut and mushroom lasagna and a festive sticky pudding, alongside a special Sunday Christmas menu.
The pub is also well-known for its pies, with the Christmas menu featuring a King Scallop and Puff Pastry Pie, which is tipped to be a crowd pleaser.
Last week, the outside of The Black Friar transformed for the festive season, unveiling its Christmas display featuring over 3,000 baubles, which was put together by floral artist Kelly Louise Chapman.
Rob Orme, general manager of the pub, said: “Last year we served over 22,000 guests between the decorations going up and Christmas Day. That’s just the number of people having lunch or dinner with us. Countless more joined us for a tipple in our drinks cabins before the Christmas markets or stopped by just to enjoy the display.

“It’s a completely brand new display. Last year the theme was presents, with colourful climbing up the front of the pub.
“This year, we’ve gone one better and every guest dining with us can post their letters to Santa in a real-life red post box, with envelopes magically climbing up the side of the building and flying off to the North Pole. Who knows, maybe some gifts will arrive early this year for some lucky boys and girls.
“We’re incredibly lucky to be the current custodians of a wonderful piece of Salford heritage. We want to celebrate our local area and show off how special our little corner of the North West is.
We hope that this little bit of festive cheer helps to brighten up our corner at the top of Blackfriars Road, and maybe even turn some heads towards Salford in the crowds of people flocking to the Manchester Christmas Markets.”
The independently-owned pub was originally built in 1886, but shut after 120 years in 2006, before it was resurrected in 2021, allowing the previously derelict building to come back to life.
The pub has since gone from strength to strength and it looks as if this Christmas period will be no different.
Rob said: “We hope that our decorations add that little additional touch of sparkle to a magical time of year, that’s often especially important to most people. Whether it’s people coming for a knees-up with their works do, or toasting a marshmallow over our garden firepit before jumping on the train home.

While we hope that this year’s decorations have the same wonderfully positive reaction that they had last year, and that people love them as much as we do; our number one priorities will continue to be serving delicious home-cooked and thoughtfully sourced grub, excellent pints, and looking after our local community.”
Bookings are now available, with space for up to 250 people at the venue. Bookings for groups of 12 or more require a pre-order and a deposit of £10 per person.
