padel centre in Worsley

A former Premier League football star is set to open an exciting and new premium padel centre in Worsley this May.

Padel16, owned by the former Liverpool and Sunderland star, longside local businessman Anthony Bingham, they will open the new facility at the Worsley Sports Club to the public.

The new addition will hope to capitalise on Padel, one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and aim to be a cornerstone of a new era for Worsley Sports Club.

And this new era will coincide with Padel 16’s mission to “restore and transform local sports clubs, offering communities a refreshed space to connect, compete and socialise.”

The four brand new courts are set to open on Sunday 4 May 2025, marking the first phase of a larger project aimed at breathing new life back into the club.

And unlike conventional models, the revenue generated from the padel court will be reinvested into the club.

This approach ensures sustained development, enhances community engagement, and supports continuous improvements to the facilities.

Fabio Borini, the driving force behind the project, said: “Padel16 is about much more than just offering a fun, fast paced sport. It’s about giving back to the community and rebuilding the club for the future.

“By putting the money back into the club, we’re not only creating a new space for the community to enjoy, we’re also laying the foundation for its future.”

The former Premier League star continued: “This is just the start – we have big plans to expand, evolve and build an exciting hub for everyone in the area.”

The club will also aim to become a community hub, with the transformation also planning future phases that include the introduction of a barista coffee station.

The plans also include a unique dining experiences for club members and visitors.

This gradual evolution of the club aims to create a space where people can not only enjoy padel but also socialise, relax and feel connected to their community.

Ahead of the developments, Jane Howarth at Worsley Sports Club said: “We are absolutely delighted to be partnering with Padel16 to bring something innovative and exciting to our club.

“Padel is a totally new concept for us and it marks a new chapter in the club’s future. We are excited to see it thrive alongside our long-established existing sports, bowling, cricket, tennis and croquet all played in the most incredible setting.”
