Salford City will look to extend their unbeaten this weekend, as they make a late push for the playoff places.

The Ammies who have gone three games without a defeat, are making a late lunge for the promotion spots, and will be hoping to continue this form in front of home fans.

Karl Robinsons’ side will be walking into the game with aspirations of closing the gap, as they sit five points behind seventh place Grimsby Town.

Salford City were able to continue their unbeaten run after snatching a late draw against Barrow – with an own goal by Wyll Stanway in the 69th minute rescuing the Ammies from defeat.

And with the season coming to a close, and Salford City still having a game in hand over surrounding playoff challenges, they will have to maximise every possible point.

The past two games, Karl Robinsons’ side have been able to will themselves back into the game, coming from behind to beat Bromley 3-2 and a late equaliser to Barrow – proving they are a driven side in the final stretch of the campaign.

However, this upcoming fixture may be a challenge for the Ammies this weekend as they go up against a Gillingham side that will be looking to impress their new manager Gary Ainsworth.

The team from Kent, will be looking to continue their run of form and push further away from the relegation places.

The Gills are unbeaten in the last five games, winning once and drawing the rest, a hard side to beat – it will take a huge effort from Karl Robinsons side to get over this hurdle.

And with the away side only losing once in the last eleven games, it is proof that they are a hard side to beat but also not a threat going forward.

However, with the ‘new manager bounce’, Salford will have to put forward a strong performance to finish the weekend with maximum points.

The game will kick off this weekend at the Peninsula Stadium at 3pm, and fans are being encouraged to ‘Bring a pound to the Ground’ as they aim to raise money as a part of the Foundation 92 Matchday weekend.

The Ammies will be hoping that three points will be enough to tighten the gap to the promotion places – with more information about the team being found here.
