One of the UK’s leading adult social sports organisations has announced that a new league is making its way to Salford.

The sports organisation Try Tag Rugby has launched in Salford, aiming to bring an inclusive, minimal-contact social sport suitable for all adults.

The sport will allow anyone with no previous experience to come and play the sport, and they are encouraging anyone to get involved.

From Thursday May 29, Salford residents will be able to experience the game for the first time at Broughton Cricket and Rugby Club, where the first seven-week league will commence.

And Salford residents will be able to join the over 11,000 people who played weekly across 31 different locations last summer.

These included people from 16 London boroughs and major cities including Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield.

It should be noted that the league is open to people of all genders, and a series of free, one hour taster sessions will be held in the run up to the league on the 8th, 15, and 18th of May for people to ‘Give Tag A Try’.

Each week a post-match social will be held, proving a great opportunity to meet new people or catch up with old friends.

Having played in the nearby Manchester leagues, Cameron Green will be running the brand new Salford Licence, and admitted he is “really excited to bring Try Tag Rugby to Salford and give people an easy way to get active, have fun, and meet new people.”

He continued: “I’ve been playing Tag Rugby for the last couple of years, and it’s been an amazing way to stay fit, make friends, and be part of a welcoming community.

“I can’t wait to bring that same experience to Salford and see players of all backgrounds and abilities giving it a go and making Salford’s Tag Rugby scene something special.”

Try Tag Rugby National Licensing Director Carl Duckels said: “Salford has huge potential and we’re confident Cameron is the perfect person to help it reach that potential.

“With his experience and enthusiasm, we know he’ll build a fun, social, and welcoming community where players can easily get active and make new friends.”

League registration is now open for individuals, groups and teams, and can be accessed here, and those who  wish to attend a taster session before the league starts, further information can be found here.

In addition to players, Try Tag Rugby is also recruiting paid referees in Salford, with free training provided.

For further information about refereeing, or any general enquiries, please contact Cameron at Try Tag Rugby Salford on 07352 317533, or Salford@trytagrugby.com.
