Salford residents are being encouraged to join the Great British Spring Clean to combat litter and improve the local environment.
The Great British Spring Clean is part of a national campaign organised by Keep Britain Tidy, running from March 21 to April 6. Individuals, schools, businesses, and community groups are invited to unite in the fight against litter.
A series of free litter-picking events will take place across Salford, offering multiple opportunities for residents to get involved. Those unable to attend specific events can still contribute by using one of the Litter Picking Lockers located in selected parks, making it easy for anyone to take action.

A Salford charity has raised over £260,000 with a guest list packed full of Manchester stars at their inaugural gala dinner.
The fundraiser hosted by the Foundation92 and the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital was hosted on Friday 21 March at the Victoria Warehouse.
Many recognisable guests were in attendance, including reality TV star Tanya Bardsley, former Manchester United player Wes Brown, and radio presenter Gemma Atkinson.

Budding writers are being invited to the Working Class Movement Library for a miners’ strike poetry workshop hosted by poet and activist Matt Abbott.
Tickets have become available for May 15, where beginners or writers of any level are welcome.
The workshop will use a selection of poems from the 1984-1985 miners strike, including prompt and guidance from Matt, to teach techniques and skills for reflection and use of language to craft their poetry.

People in Irlam and surrounding areas of Salford spotted a SpaceX fuel dump across the city’s night sky.
On Monday March 24, residents in Irlam noticed a glowing, spinning light in the sky. Ashley Davies said: “I noticed it at around 8.15pm, I was putting the rubbish in the bins when I first saw it in the sky.”
Those who witnessed the strange light also noted a ‘vapour’ surrounding it, with the light emitting blue and white hues across the sky.

Brand new Netflix drama Toxic Town features locations in Salford, eagle-eyed viewers have spotted.
Swinton Precinct is the background for one of the scenes in the new mini-series starring Jodie Whittaker, which is based on the true story of three mothers involved in the Corby toxic waste case in Northamptonshire.
Residents spotted filming over a year ago.

Lowry audiences are set to welcome the Olivier Award-nominated adaptation of the classic picture book Room on the Broom. The production will be directed by Olivia Jacobs and will take to the Lowry stage from Tuesday 15 to Sunday 20 April. The Easter production will be welcoming guests to “jump on board the broom with the witch and her cat in this fun-filled magical musical adaptation.”

Salford YouTuber and Twitch stream Angry Ginge’s six-aside beat a team managed by Arsenal legends 5-2 to go top of the new Baller League.
The Baller League competition kicked off this past weekend, and saw teams compete managed by ex-professional footballers, including the likes of John Terry, Alan Shearer, and Gary Lineker, as well as social media influencers such as Angry Ginge, KSI and Chunkz.

Salford Red Devils half-back Chris Atkin has been included in the the Betfred Super League team of the week for Round Five.
The Red Devils won their second game on the bounce, beating the Huddersfield Giants 23-10.
Chris Atkin put on an incredible all round performance and played a vital role in the Red Devils victory.
