Delays are expected for Salford residents between Junction 15 and Junction 16 on the M60 due to a serious multi-vehicle collision.
The collision occurred at approximately 7pm last night (Thursday 20 March) that saw an HGV cross through the central reservation barrier.
Emergency services including police, fire service, and paramedics all attended the immediate scene.
Following the incident, roads had been closed throughout the night, as a spokesperson from the National Highways Northwest said at 7:31am: “The M60 in Greater Manchester remains closed clockwise between J15 (M61) and J16 (Swinton) following an incident involving an HGV.”
Following the incidents the National Highway recovery team have been removing debris from the road, leading to it remaining closed until this morning.
“Recovery is in progress and our team on scene are cleaning up the resulting debris.
“Police investigation works will be taking place.”
While the traffic persists, the National Highway have offered residents alternative routes and diversions – however the roads are slowly reopening.
The National Highways spokesperson said: “Delays are in excess of 30 minutes. Delays of approximately two miles on approach, though this should start to ease soon.”
