Salford Red Devils prop Brad Singleton has joined Castleford Tigers for an undisclosed fee on a deal until the end of next season.
The 32-year-old is next Red Devils star to leave following the clubs financial troubles, after half-back Marc Sneyd joined Warrington Wolves.
Singleton joined the Red Devils in July 2023, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal after a spell at Wigan Warriors.
Throughout his time at the club, he made 31 appearance for the Red Devils and scored a one try in last year’s Round 2 clash with the Tigers.
His exit will see the team lose another vocal presence in the dressing room with the prop bringing experience throughout his time as a player.
As a player he has so far won six major trophies whilst playing for the Warriors and Leeds Rhinos.
Singleton was also involved in the Red Devils squad that got to the playoffs last season, it seems that he will be another big miss in the dressing room.
And with Paul Rowley’s side failing to recapture the same winning mentality in the Super League as a result of the sustainability cap it has been a challenge to field their strongest team and be competitive.
Singleton said: “With the sustainability cap, I couldn’t back involved in the team, so this move will get me back focused on playing my best rugby.
“It’s no secret it’s a turbulent time for the Club at the moment and this move puts family first.”
And following his departure, he thanked the club for the memories, he said: “I just want to thank the players, staff and supporters for everything over the last two years.
“2024 was certainly a memorable one for me; Rowls got us playing an attractive brand of rugby and the atmosphere off the field was unbelievable.”
And as Salford continue to battle the restraints of the sustainability cap, whilst also keeping an eye on the domestic competition – Brad added: “I hope the situation is sorted soon for everybody involved.”
Singleton could make his debut for Castleford on Saturday – while the Red Devils will have to turn their attention to tonight’s fixture (Thursday 20 March) against Huddersfield Giants.
