Salford Red Devils

Salford Red Devils will host Huddersfield Giants as both teams search for their first league win of the season.

The Red Devils who currently sit at the bottom of the league table, will be hoping to kick start their season against the winless Giants.

Paul Rowley’s side will be approaching the game in positive spirits after beating Bradford Bulls 26-16 in the Challenge Cup fourth round.

The squad were able to advance in the competition, lifting the spirits of the players and the fans as the return to the Super League fixtures.

And the Red Devils will see this as a chance to kick start their season, with both clubs yet to win this campaign.

The two clubs are only separated by a point difference of -109, with the Red Devils on -158 after heavy losses to St Helens (82-0), Leeds Rhinos (6-32), and Hull KR (42-0).

And after a close battled defeat to Castleford Tigers, and a win over the Bulls, it seems that the team are improving and heading in the right direction.

The Red Devils should also be approaching the fixture with confidence, as the Huddersfield Giants travel to the Salford Community Stadium after five consecutive defeats.

And with the Red Devils expecting the return of Joe Shorrocks, who will be back in the squad after being hit with a three-game suspension in Round 3, they will certainly be hoping to score more points.

While for Huddersfield Giants, they will be approaching to walk away from the game with a win – and hoping to capitalise on the Red Devils off-field issues.

Head coach, Luke Robinson said: “They’re obviously a side under extreme mental pressures but we’ve put ourselves in a lot of pressure down.

“We feel like it is a bit of a ‘do or die’ game.”

However, the Giants have an unwanted record of leading at half time in every Super League game but also going on to lose – which they will be hoping to change against the Red Devils.

But for Huddersfield they will be looking for revenge as last season when the two sides met in August the Red Devils beat the Giants 60-10 and will be hoping to repeat the previous home victory.

And with the home side winning four of the last five games against their mid-week rivals, there will be a certain hope that they can continue this trend.

Nonetheless, the Red Devils will kick off against the Huddersfield Giants at the Salford Community Stadium at 8pm on Thursday 20 March – more information can be found here.
