Langworthy Reds clubhouse

A Salford rugby league club have set up a crowdfunding project to help repair their clubhouse that has been apart of the community for over 140 years.

Langworthy Reds have launched the fundraiser to make urgent repairs to their clubhouse, including updates to the roof, new windows and new doors.

The club is making the repairs to ensure that it will become more accommodating to fans and visitors of the team.

Located at Oakwood Park, the club shared that the building currently used as the clubhouse has a lot of local history and has been part of the community for over 140 years.

The club said: “We have converted the clubhouse into a space for a modern rugby league club.

“However, due to the age of our clubhouse and vandalism experienced over the past few years there are some quite major repairs that need urgent attention.”

The club continued to share on social media: “The roof is leaking in multiple places into the function room, bar and changing rooms which is causing damage to the interior of the building, windows have been smashed, and external doors need replacing.

“The building has been in dire need of proper investment for a number of years, and we have used club funds to make do and patch up generally but the building has got to the point where it needs major investment.

“The club’s funds simply don’t cover these costs. Club funds are raised by players paying subs but these just about cover the general running costs of the club.”

The Langworthy Reds are also offering rewards dependant on how much money an individual pays into the crowd raiser.

A free drink at the clubhouse is offered at £10 or more, a club pin badge at £25 or more, a club hat with the choice of three different styles of hat at £50 or more.

And for residents in Salford who donated £250 or more will receive a company banner for any business donating – which will also come with shout-outs on the social media accounts.

The club also shared that all the money donated by the public, will be matched by Salford City Council – residents can donate to the fundraiser here.
