A wellbeing centre in Swinton will be offering a new home delivery service, where they will be providing meals to resident’s doorsteps.
The new Hive 2 Home service, will be led by the Hive Wellbeing Hub, and has been a project that has been in the works for some time, aiming to offer nutritious, freshly cooked, and affordable meals.
Residents in the M27 postcode will be able to sign up to the service, as it will look to give a helping hand to those with illnesses, the elderly, people in recovery or those who minimally leave the house.
Customers can look forward to home cooked meals, prepared on the day, and they be able to be easily reheated.
The service will launch on Tuesday 1 April, and will be offering a variety of meals, with the menu being released a week before.
Residents will be able to try potato hash, stew, curry, pasta bake, casserole, Shepards pie and many more, with popular dishes being available more often.
Natalie, a spokesperson for the Hive Wellbeing Hub said: “We’ve had about 28 meal ideas.”
The service will make a difference to those in need, providing them with vital produce, costing £50 for the week so that residents can have freshly cooked meals delivered to their door or alternatively £10 a day.
The home delivery service will be vital to those in need, as Natalie continued: “It’s not only helping the residents who are finding it hard to get these meals done for one reason or another, it also helps families.
“Hopefully we really help those that need it, that are local to us, that have supported us for years.”
The wellbeing service will continue to support the community by running sessions such as the weekly event ‘knit and natter’ and a morning for veterans of the community to socialise, while enjoying a £5 meal on Tuesdays.
Lynn, founder of the knit and natter group welcomes a group of around thirteen people every week, she said: “For the first few weeks it was just me and now there is about thirteen that come every Tuesday. We have a knit and we have a natter”.
And through their community work, the Hive has been successful in their events, and they hope that the new Hive 2 Home service is set to follow in its footsteps.
Natalie is feeling excited for the launch, but it’s the community feel that motivates her, she added: “I see the difference that it makes to so many lives, this place.
“Even if it is just someone coming in who might be on their own but leaving with having a chat to someone. It’s got great community spirit in here.”
