Irlam Vale AFC will host a snail race to raise cash for the club to combat increasing costs.

The event will show virtual snail races on March 22nd at the Irlam Catholic Club from 7:30PM til midnight.

Attendees will bet on as many snails as they want, with the minimum bet being £1 in cash.

Winnings will be split 50/50 between the club and winners as the club tries to address rising costs.

Darren Kelly, the event organiser, said: “It’s vital for [the] community… with increasing costs for our winter training sessions for all teams, we need a boost here and there.

“We recently increased our subs for players to help towards these costs and we still proudly remain the cheapest football club in the district.

“The club is ran entirely by volunteers, and we do try to [do these] fundraising events throughout the year to help pay towards equipment to make not only our coaches lives easier but give the best for the players of our club.”

“The funds raised from our snail race night will be going towards purchasing 9-a-side football goals.

Live music will also be playing at the fundraiser night by DJ Barrie, DJ-ing to how the room feels and with “all genres being accommodated for”.

Tickets are available for £3 ahead of the night and will be £4 at the door, to get them for the cheaper price click here

Due to the gambling nature of the event, only 18’s are permitted entrance.
