An annual spring charity ball is set to be held by the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford aiming to raise funds for different causes in the community.

The event will be hosted at the Salford Community Stadium and will be open for guests to attend on Saturday 22 March.

The ball will be hosted by Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Tanya Burch and will see further money raised for her chosen charities.

In August last year, the Ceremonial Mayor completed a parachute jump to raise funds for charity with the help of Executive officer of HMS Eaglet, Lt Cmr Mark Driscol.

Throughout the evening, guests will be able to experience a three-course meal, disco, DJ, raffle, auction, and live performances.

The raffle will also include prizes such as restaurant vouchers, paintings of iconic sites within Salford by local artists, and gold jewellery.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the selected charities, which include St. Anns Hospice, who support people in Greater Manchester with life-limiting illnesses.

The charity is close to her heart, as she said: “The hospice really impressed me with positivity, loving care and kindness when I visited as deputy ceremonial mayor.”

The event will also aim to raise money for the Royal Navy Association, as Tanya wants to pay homage to the armed forces due to their support following the invasion of Ukraine.

She continued: “Because I am Ukrainian, I want to encourage my fellow Ukrainians who become refugees that they have found their second home in our city.”

And the Ukraine influence will be apparent as attendees can expect live performances from the Podilya Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, as well performance from Mississippi Soul Man, and MAPAS.

“It’s a very special event in the life of the city,” Tanya said, “We are expecting to raise £30,000 for the charities.”

The event will also see several Salford councillors, five ceremonial mayors in attendance, as well as Tanya’s husband, the Ceremonial Mayor consort, and her daughter, Lady Mayoress of Salford.
