Salford artists will be invited to a free creative mixer event at Islington Mill to encourage collaboration and creativity in the community.
The creative mixer will be hosted by the Salford Culture Place Partnership, in the hope of receiving feedback about a new digital hub space being developed to support creatives.
The event will be hosted on February 27, 2025 – and will be invited organisations and individuals to input on this project, to create an online platform for the creative community.
Throughout the session, guests will be able can communicate, collaborate, promote or seek guidance from similar individuals.
An online survey will also be produced for those who are unable to attend, with participants being asked to prioritise their needs for an online hub.
The creative mixer event will also include a chance to improve creative matchmaking services, profiles of creatives, details of facilities or best practice advice.
The post urges feedback, encouraging locals to share their thoughts and have their say – along with the social aspect guests will be treated to live music by Tunde Adekoya, along with free food and drinks from Deli Lama Cafe.
Tunde Adekoya, spoke about the positive influence of the mixer, as he said: “The creative mixer is significant to a growing ecosystem and economics of opportunity and equality for Salford and Greater Manchester.
“If a digital platform can support this notion and help people and communities flourish then it would be a beautiful thing.”
For this year’s 20th anniversary of sounds from the other city, the event will also be running a story recording session to collect attendees’ favourite memories of the past years.
These will be added to Manchester’s district archive as a digital for a virtual audio map.
Alongside the development of this platform, the free creative mixer event will also provide a space for local artists to network, discover opportunities and form collaborations.
