Salford Red Devils Women are back in action with their first pre-season game against Featherstone Rovers this weekend.
The Red Devils will travel to fellow Championship side Rovers on Saturday 1 March, in preparation for their aim to be promoted to the Betfred Women’s Super League this season.
After falling at the semi-final stage to the Sheffield Eagles, the side failed to achieve promotion to the Women’s Super League last season, despite earning a play-off spot.
Head coach, Mike Grady, will lead the team for another season alongside new assistant coach, Armani Sharrock, to form a three-person coaching group with fellow assistant coach, Dawn Schofield.
The Red Devils will hope Sharrock’s 14 years of playing experience will bring that extra bit of analytic insight to get the team over the line this season.
New additions to the squad have added more excitement and skill to the already talented team, and there is a huge buzz around the club for the upcoming season.
Mike Grady said: “We have a number of new exciting players this season, adding to the quality we already had, with new additions to the coaching staff too we are looking forward to the year ahead,
“Iām looking forward to getting a game under our belts and putting into practice what we have done over the pre-season,
“There are no expectations on us results-wise with it being a friendly, we just want to get used to playing together as a team and getting our combinations right,
“Featherstone is always a tough place to go no matter what the occasion and with them being a Super League side last season it will provide us with a good test to see where we are at as a group.”
Entry for spectators will be permitted from 12pm, with prices Ā£5 across all age categories, excluding U16s who can attend for free – and fans who attend will be able to be treated to food and beverages on site.
