Curtis Tilt leading Salford City out at the Peninsula Stadium

Salford City captain Curtis Tilt has been named in the Sky Bet League Two Team of the Week after his impressive defensive performance.

The Ammies captain has been consistent for Salford City this season and has been significant to the side’s defensive performances in the league.

The Salford defender will accept the recognition once again this season being the best player on the pitch, despite a  2-1 defeat to Port Vale this weekend.

Throughout the performance, Tilt was able to showcase his defensive quality making a last-ditch tackle and goal line clearance to secure his spot.

The defender was able to score a 8.27 rating on WhoScored.com, picking up the highest rating on the pitch.

Throughout the fixture, he led like a true captain making eleven clearances and five tackles, as well as winning six aerial duels.

Following the announcement of his inclusion in the Team of the Week, fans on social media shared praise to the defender saying: “That’s our boy.”

However, despite his best efforts the Ammies missed an excellent opportunity to add to their play-off hopes sitting now in ninth, four points outside the play-offs.

And manager Karl Robinson will be hoping that he can see a similar performance from his captain, when they come up against play-off rivals Braford City

The reverse fixture came back in August which ended in a stalemate 0-0 draw, with Curtis Tilt producing another great defensive performance with a clean sheet in the fixture.

They will be hoping to replicate this game and his performance on the weekend into the Ammies home game on Saturday 1 March.

Tilt will hope the home advantage will give him and his players the boost to grab three points and improve their chances of securing a play-off spot.
