A Boothstown restaurant that closed its doors last year, has reopened with a sold out weekend from word of mouth advertising.
Vesuvio’s owner, Giuseppe Lombardo, is now managing both the kitchen and dining.
Since its return the Italian restaurant remains full, having to turn down excited guests at the door.
Giuseppe said: “It made me feel wanted to be back in the community.
“I’ve fully renovated inside then soon I’ll start to do the outside area for food, or drink only, ready for the summer.”
Vesuvio’s is open Wednesday to Sunday for the next few weeks, and hopes to soon open on Tuesdays as well.
It will open 5pm to 10pm Wednesday to Friday, 4pm to 10pm Saturday and 1pm to 8pm on Sunday, with a reduced menu focussed on fish.
He said the decision to reopen was due to simply, “the community.”
He added: “I live locally and in the beginning when we closed, I felt ashamed and embarrassed to go out, but it took me five to six months before I started looking for a job.
“Then every time I went out I saw local people and always the first thing they asked is are you opened anywhere? When do you open?, you need to reopen and we miss you, so it made me realise that I need and must do something for it.”
Diners can book here to avoid disappointment.
