Birmingham Royal Ballet’s critically acclaimed Black Sabbath – The Ballet will make its highly anticipated debut at The Lowry this autumn.
Following a sold-out world premiere in 2023, the production will run at The Lowry from October 8 to 11 before heading to London’s Sadler’s Wells.
A groundbreaking fusion of ballet and heavy metal, Black Sabbath – The Ballet won over audiences when it premiered, attracting rock and ballet fans alike.
The production, a full-length, three-act Ballet Now commission, features choreography by Swedish artist Pontus Lidberg, with additional contributions from Raul Reinoso and Cassi Abranches.
The ballet’s striking visual identity is brought to life by Cuban designer Alexandre Arrechea, while the Tony-award winning Christopher Austin leads the musical re-orchestration.
New compositions by Marko Nyberg and Sun Keting will also be performed live, with guitarist Mark Hayward reprising his role on stage.
The show will reimagine some of Black Sabbath’s most iconic tracks including Paranoid, Iron Man, War Pigs and more.
This return features enhanced sound design and newly updated interview audio, ensuring an even more immersive experience.
The Birmingham Royal Ballet is also bringing Sir David Bintley’s magical adaptation of Cinderella to The Lowry from March 6.
This lavish production, featuring Sergei Prokofiev’s sweeping score, stunning sets, and breathtaking choreography, remains one of the ballet’s most beloved performances.
