A disability charity have been awarded a contract to improve independent living for the community in Salford.
The charity Blue Sky Brokers have been operating for over 15 years, have won a contract which will allow individuals in Salford to independently navigate their care and receive the right support.
And providing essential tools to disabled people, such as information, advice and support on aspects of direct payments and independent living.
The newly awarded contract will provide a new personal assistant register, which will assist individuals to recruit personal assistants independently.
Raj Johal, the director of Blue Sky Brokers said; “Winning the contract is a proud moment for us.
“We are committed to ensuring that individuals in Salford receive the highest level of support, enabling them to lead a fulfilling and independent life.”
Blue Sky Brokers are working with Salford Integrated Care Partnership, Salford City Council, and the NHS Northern Care Alliance and will be collaborating to improve independent living.
The support of the charity will enable residents in Salford to live independently and comfortably in their own home.
Raj continued: “We look forward to working closely with Salford City Council to ensure a seamless and efficient implementation.
“Independent living is a right, not a privilege. Our mission is to remove barriers, impower individuals and ensure that direct payments work for everyone who chooses them.”
This will be supported with Blue Sky Brokers launching a care card with Kate Garraway in November 2024, the card acts as an official verified ID card inclusive of the entire Social Care Sector.
Following the announcement of the contract, Councillor John Merry, Lead Member for Adult Social Care and Health at Salford City Council said: “The service will provide an important role in the system enabling more people to experience true choice and control over their care arrangements.”
