Ceremonial Mayor of Salford visits Home Care service -

A home care service was visited by the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford to learn about the valuable work they do in the community.

Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Madam Tanya Burch, was interested in the work by Home Instead Salford & Worsley.

The Home Instead Salford and Worsley office opened in 2016 and received its first ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) a year later.

The home care service have continued to show their high standards being inspected, and receiving a second one ‘Outstanding’ rating in 2023.

The Ceremonial Mayor’s visit started at Home Instead’s office in Swinton where she was greeted by Susan Robinson, owner of the business.

During the visit to the office, they discussed care in the community and the support offered to people to living independently in their own homes.

The owner, Susan, also was able to take the Mayor to a weekly ‘Cuppa and Company’ coffee morning at All Saints Church in Wardley, Worsley.

The event has been organised by Susan and her Community Engagement Champion, Jo Robinson.

The ‘Cuppa and Company’ coffee morning also allowed the Ceremonial Mayor to join the the vicar of All Saints, Father Jeremy and representatives from Age UK.

The meeting allowed them to learn more about the day in the life of a Care Professional.

Following the visit Susan said: “It was an honour to be joined by Madam Mayor and be able to tell her about our approach to quality care.

Our work extends well beyond the care service we deliver and we are proud of the many community links we have nurtured over the past nine years.”

The praise of the services and support was appreciated by Susan, but she also credited Jo for her efforts.

Susan continued: “Jo has done a fantastic job organising events for the older community in our area.

“The weekly coffee morning she has organised armchair exercise classes, wreath-making workshops at Christmas and events with the Mobile Memorabilia Museum which allow people to reminisce and which prompt lively discussions of times gone by. People just love it.”

The care service has been running since 2016, and run a variety of community events that are open to residents of Salford aged over 60 and their carers.
