Salford City have condemned racial abuse that was directed towards midfielder Tyrese Fornah after Tuesday night’s fixture.
The club were made aware of the comments that were made to the midfielder on Instagram following the draw with Newport County.
The on-loan Derby County player was sent off during the match in the 75th minute – as the Ammies went onto draw 1-1.
The midfielder has been on-loan at the club since the start of this season, and has featured 22 times for the club.
The 25-year-old was shown full support by the club following the report, with Salford City shared a statement condemning the racial comment made.
The club said: “We have a zero tolerance stance on the use of racist or discriminative language or behaviour, and have reported the culprit to the relevant authorities.
“We trust that Meta will take the necessary action against the individual and continue to work with clubs and the EFL to prevent issues of this nature from happening.
“Tyrese has our full support and reassurance that we will not tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind.”
Fans of the club also shared their support for Fornah, as Colin Mudd said on X: “No room for racism in any walk of life.”
And Bobby Wolstenholme shared on X: “Absolutely disgusting no one deserves anything like that head up Ty.”
Following the abuse towards the Salford midfielder, his parent club Derby County also shared a statement.
