Trams between Eccles and MediaCityUK are set to stop for three weeks this February due to track replacement work.
Work will be carried out at the Weaste tram stop between Saturday, 1 February until Tuesday, 25 February as part of further improvements to the Metrolink network.
The replacement plans will be a part of a £147m package to maintain, upgrade and improve the Metrolink network up to 2027 – with further works planned this year.
Residents between the affected stops will be offered a bus replacement service, with the Bee Network buses also running as usual.
The multiple stops that will be affected include Eccles, Ladywell, Weaste, Langworthy, Broadway and MediaCityUK.
And although there will be no trams through those stops, services will continue to run from MediaCityUK towards Mancester City Centre and other regions on the tram network.
Ian Davies, TfGM’s Interim Network Director for Metrolink, said: “The works at Weaste tram stop are essential to ensure that services on the Eccles line remain safe and reliable for the thousands of journeys people make on it every day.
“As always, we are working hard to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum, including the provision of replacement buses for our passengers.
“Metrolink is the biggest light rail system in the country, so it’s critically important we keep investing in the network and making sure it remains a safe, reliable and accessible way to get around Greater Manchester well into the future.
“While this essential work at Weaste is ongoing, I would encourage people to plan ahead and check our website or the Bee Network app for the latest travel information before setting off.”
The rail replacement work is more crucial than ever, with the Bee Network recording 45.57 million trips being made on trams last year.
