Salford City are hoping to return to winning ways after three consecutive defeats, as they are set to play against Newport County.
The Ammies will be looking to get their first victory tonight (Tuesday 28 January), without a win since a 1-0 victory over MK Dons.
Karl Robinsons’ side were in strong form ahead of the New Year, previously going six unbeaten in the league – climbing to third in the table.
However, since the turn of the New Year the Ammies have seen themselves falling away, with form turning since the 8-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup.
Since the defeat, Salford City have dropped points to both Fleetwood Town (2-0) and Cheltenham (2-1) falling to eighth in League Two.
And despite Salford City captain Curtis Tilt’s late consolation goal, the Ammies were unable to walk away with the fixture to show anything for their efforts.
Following the result, Robinson said after the match: “We felt that we could have negated their goals by things tactically that we’ve spoken about consistently, but I am pleased with the players’ attitude,” Robinson said after the match.
“I have seen certain aspects I can be pleased with, but certain components you wouldn’t be pleased with.”
He continued: “We kept going right to the end of injury time and I can’t ask for any more in that respect. Injuries have caught up with us a bit but I know there is more to come from us.”
The positive reflection from the Salford manager will hope to help his side to regain some confidence, as they walk into the fixture winning four of the last five meetings against their opponents.
And despite the run of form, Karl Robinson’s side should be optimistic with their rivals Newport County losing all of there past five games – sitting in 21st in the league.
A win tonight for the Ammies could help in their promotion push allowing them to move into fourth in the table, if results go their way.
And fans will be able to hope that there club climb up the league table, as the action returns to The Peninsula Stadium tonight at 7:45pm tonight – with more information here.
