Salford is set to be welcomed by music and performing arts groups that will hope to showcase the ‘Best of British’ in this years spring concert.
The celebration of music will displayed by 18 different groups with the best songs from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland this March.
Running for seven years the showcase from Monday 24 March at two different Salford locations, and feature groups such as MAPAS Maestros, Salford Steel, and Rainbow Rooms Choir.
This year theme aims to excite, with previous themes including Disney at 100, which featured Disney-inspired performances from MAPAS’ Music and Singing Centres.
The show will feature a variety of genres, but will centre around the ‘Best of British’, as Development Officer at MAPAS, Patrick Noone, said that: “It might be some British classical music, or some more modern British pop stuff.”
The aim of the showcase will be to encourage children to come along, and inspire the future generations of music.
For children, a subscription to MAPAS is £8 a month, and they can join as many groups as they want.
As Patrick continued: “It’s a good avenue for those who are interesting in music and performing arts, to get involved locally.
“It’s a nice start to the spring, as the days are getting lighter. It’s always good fun.”
The Salford showcase also has a brand new venue for this year, with St Thomas Church hosting three out of four of the performances.
Reverend Peter Bennett of St Thomas Church said that: “It’s so good that children and young people get a chance to play together, I’m looking forward to hearing them!”
The church has previously hosted a Christmas Brass Band Concert, where The University of Salford Brass Band performed their annual Christmas show.
Reverend Bennett said: “We’d love to welcome people in, whether it’s the services or a community event like this.”
You can book tickets to the MAPAS Centre Spring Showcase Concerts 2025 ‘Best of British’ with ticket prices ranging between £3-£6.
