A darts academy in Swinton raised £1500 to help improve the growth and progression of children playing the game.
Swan Darts Academy held games with their past and current superstars, for their fundraiser on Sunday 19 January.
Children in the academy were able to take to the stage for the first time in front of a ground, and play against other young talents.
The competition at the academy saw a great turn out, with Lancashire County Darts Organisation players also joining to put on an overall amazing day.
The Academy’s coach, Arran Mattinson, previously mentored Luke Littler, who became the youngest World Championship in history and was able to bag a signed shirt as a raffle prize from the darts prodigy.
Arran said the money is going towards equipment and advertising for future events, as believes darts is massively growing due to Luke Littler and is aiding many children to get involved.
Littler was able to climb to the top of the darts mountain during the 2024 World Darts Championships, where he was able to get to the final on his first attempt – winning the tournament this year.
The now 18-year-old, who is celebrating his birthday today (January 21 2025) has become a huge inspiration for young children.
As Arran continued: “There’s a couple of kids that show autism and ADHD and it’s quite refreshing for them. As well as with their maths, it helps with that a lot as well.”
The Academy helps players of all levels, starting from children aged 8 years old, to improve their skills, have fun and achieve their goals.
He continued: “With the 8-16 year old’s we teach, it’s keeping them off the streets because there’s a lot that goes on nowadays.
“It gives them something to do, it’s interactive so yeah I would personally start putting it in schools.”
