Two local friends are on the mission to bring light and share positivity to Salford residents this January with free art classes.

Lifelong friends Bea and Nat launched an initiative in the summer of 2024, inviting both adults and children to creative workshops.

The initiative named Be Wild Creative allows residents to come together through a variety of workshops and creativity, with normal sessions costing £25.

But after the festive period the duo have opened free workshops this January to those in Salford to help with climbing costs.

Bea said: “December is really hard, everyone spends all their money at Christmas, and then January comes around and no one has any money.

“It lasts forever, so we just thought it would be really good for the community to put on some free sessions, a little give back as well for the venues that host us as well.”

The two friends described that they aim to bring some creative joy in the tough times of January, hosting free art classes at the start of every year.

The idea to launch the workshops came “after lockdown, people needed somewhere to go and something to do,” said Bea.

“When you’ve got a lot of money, this stuff’s really accessible.

“But the rest of us that are in the middle who’ve got enough money to cover our bills, but not enough to spend on education, or going into extra things. We can be that middle ground, and can offer some cheaper alternative classes,” Bea added.

The free art classes in Salford offer a variety ranging from clay making to painting and print classes, and have venues in many locations including The Brew and Bee in Walkden, the Bridgewater in Worsley, and a couple new venues in Swinton and Prestwich.

And the two friends are hoping to welcome everyone with open arms, as Nat continued: “Come and do whatever you want, it’s the idea of just come and have a go.”

“We’re trying to have something that’s different as well, not something you can buy on Amazon, or just nip to The Range and buy.

“We’ve got something that’s quite unique and different, and so you can go away saying that’s something that I’ve never done before.”

Be Wild Creative also run children’s workshops, as Nat continued: “Bring your kids here and we’ll clean up afterwards, no messy homes, messy pubs”.
