police sentenced

Three men have received custodial sentences totalling over 29 years for their involvement in a shooting in Little Hulton in May 2024.

The three men were sentenced on Friday 17 January at Manchester Crown Court for their targeted attack on Aspinall Crescent in Little Hulton.

The attack occurred at around 9:30pm, and resulted in a 20-year-old man being shot in the chest and receiving life-threatening injuries.

The victim was fortunate to survive his injuries after receiving hospital treatment.

The attack was conducted by James Gregory, 20, Jacob Humphreys, 21, and Tyler Harrison, 20, with all three men being found guilty of wounding with intent.

Following the incident GMP’s Challenger Team in Salford quickly launched an investigation with detectives focusing on CCTV from the scene of the shooting.

The CCTV investigation by the GMP enabled them to trace the movements of the three men to key locations.

The footage showed the three disposing of a vehicle used in the attack by setting it alight in attempts to remove evidence, while also being able to trace all three men to an address which was used to co-ordinate their crimes.

Detectives also found evidence of false registration plates being obtained to try to conceal their tracks from CCTV trawls.

The three men involved in the crime have all been identified – with the hours of evidence creating a timeline of there movements.

The collected evidence allowed the the Challenger team to present compelling evidence to court that the attack was targeted, organised and pre-meditated.

James Gregory (02/06/2004) of West Way, Salford was sentenced for eight years and four months wounding with intent.

The 20-year-old also pleaded guilty to possession of a machete and being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.
