Residents of Salford were displayed with visually stunning illuminations of the Swinton Ark.
The free-to-attend animated projection onto the former Swinton & Pendlebury Town Hall saw a good number of guests.
The project created by Illuminos, saw a 70 metre facade come to life with the light and sound show named Swinton Ark.
The Civic Centre was completely transformed turning into an Ark last night (January 16), and will be transformed again tonight (Friday 17 January) between 5pm and 8pm.
The transformation of the Ark is significant to the area as Swinton residents were asked ‘if you could save one object, what would it be?’
The stories gathered by local artist Lowri Evans, came to life with 3d mapped animation, music and sound.
Rob Vale, from Illuminos said: “We’ve been delighted by the response to Swinton Ark – people have said how celebratory the artwork feels, with so many elements to discover.
“Seeing this huge and well known building completely transformed into a vast animated canvas is really spectacular.”
Rob continued: “We’ve loved exploring local people’s stories and transforming their words into these special moments that we see and hear.”
The event saw a great turn out on its opening night, as well as Councillor Hannah Robinson-Smith, Lead Member for Culture, Heritage, Equalities, Sports & Leisure.
Cllr Hannah Robison shared her pleasure from the event, she said: “Swinton Ark is not only a visual feast, it’s a true love letter to Swinton.
“Local artist, Lowri Evans, together with local residents and projection artists, Illuminos, have done a stellar job in creating this animated projection – telling the stories and memories of the town.”
She continued: “t was fantastic to see such a great turn out on the first night, hearing people talking to each other about Swinton past and present.”
The Salford councillor was happy to encourage those in the area to come and attend the show on Friday evening (17 January), anytime between 5pm and 8pm.
Cllr Robinson continued: “ It’s 12 minutes of joy to brighten up anyone’s January evening!”
