Salford City have completed the signing of versatile wing-back Rosaire Longelo from Swindon Town.

The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on an 18-month deal at the Peninsula Stadium, subject to EFL ratification and approval.

A former West Ham United and Newcastle academy graduate, Longelo began his senior career with Accrington Stanley in 2021 before moving to Swindon this Summer, where he made 16 League Two appearances.

Under Ian Holloway’s management at Swindon, Longelo was predominantly used as a left-wingback in a 5-man defence, but his previous experience playing further up the pitch as a left-winger makes him another viable attacking option.

He said: “I’m excited for the future. It’s very, very good – the facilities, the pitches – it’s top-notch so far, so I’m happy with it.

“I’ve got good football knowledge, a good football IQ drilled into me when I was younger so I take that into my game, and even today I’m just willing to learn and improve.

“I like to take people on, I like dribbling, putting a few crosses in, and I love shooting, scoring goals, and exciting people; that’s the main part of my game. Growing up in the park and courts, that’s what I loved doing and I still love doing it, that’s what’s brought me here.

“I’m hoping that we can continue the good run that the boys have been on. Hopefully, I can just add to that with my qualities and we can keep pushing on until the end of the season.

“I can’t wait to put the kit on, run out there in front of the fans and show them what I’m about!”

Head Coach Karl Robinson added: “We’re delighted to bring Ros into the club, who arrives with outstanding recommendations on top of what we’ve seen for ourselves.

“He’s a good age with League One and League Two experience, and his athletic attributes, like his strength and power, will complement the way we like to play.

“We believe Ros will be a great fit to add to the options we already have out wide, and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
