Plans for a new apartment block with nearly 400 student homes in Salford have been submitted for approval.
The new proposed 396 bed student accommodation will be build on existing site Cumberland House on Lissadel Street.
The 10-storey development proposed by X1 Campus will consist of 396 student rooms, and will be developed on a brownfield site.
The building is currently being used as a taxi firm and an MOT garage, and was formerly a cotton mill that was demolished.
The site is located on the former location of Bank Mill, directly adjacent to the site were Worsley Mill and Pendleton Silk Mill, both of which have been demolished.
The apartment block will feature a 356 standard student studios, as well as Wheelchair accessible studios.
The facility will also have a courtyard and shared communal facilities for residents, and will aim to ‘enhance community engagement through active frontages and shared communal spaces’.
As well as this the proposed building will be well connected with transport links being a 10 minute walk from Salford Crescent Railway Station.
And the new near 400 student homes will also provide easy access for students, with the bus routes and Langworthy Metro stop located nearby.
The development will also be apart of the Salford Crescent area, with a £2.5bn regeneration scheme already taking place to build new homes, research facilities, and transport infrastructure.
This is already underway with the beginning of the Salford Rise developments, and third platform being added at Salford Crescent station.
