The Girl on the Train Rehearsal - Lowry

The smash-hit The Girl on the Train starring Giovanna Fletcher share preparations ahead of the arrival to the Lowry this February. 

The gripping thriller based on the internationally acclaimed number one best-selling novel by Paula Hawkins will arrive this February.

The show will be embarking on a UK tour, that will stop at the Lowry from February 11 to 15 2024.

The performance of The Girl on the Train will feature actor, writer, and broadcaster Giovanna Fletcher.

The 2020 winner of the  I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here will play Rachel Watson in the production a character who longs for a different life.

Throughout the story, audiences are shown Rachel’s only chance of escape from her life, watching the perfect couple through the train window every day, happy and in love.

Or so it appears.

Rachel learns that the woman she’s been secretly watching has suddenly disappeared, she finds herself as a witness and even a suspect in a thrilling mystery. 

Audiences of the Lowry will be able to experience the performance of Giovanna in the 2025 tour until March 29.

The actor, writer, and broadcaster will then be replaced by Eastenders star Louisa Lytton and writer, actor and presenter Laura Whitmore at later dates across the tour.

However, ahead of the performance Giovanna spoke on her casting in the role: “I am delighted to be leading the company of The Girl on the Train as Rachel Watson at venues across the UK next year.

Paula Hawkin’s psychological thriller has gripped millions of readers worldwide with its Hitchcockian tale of suspense and mystery.

What better place than the theatre to take us through its voyeuristic window and deep into Rachel’s story?”

Simon Friend Entertainment and Josh Andrews Productions show that she will face bigger revelations than ever have anticipated.

The performance has been adapted by  Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel, and is directed by Loveday Ingram.

The international phenomenon has sold over 20 million copies worldwide, and inspired a the Dreamworks film starring Emily Blunt. 

The adaptation will be brought to the Lowey stage and hope to wow audiences throughout the thriller.

The completing company cast members are Daniel Burke as Kamal Abdic, Zena Carswell as Anna Watson, Samuel Collings as Scott Hipwell.

As well as Natalie Dunne as Megan Hipwell, Paul McEwan as DI Gaskill and Jason Merrells as Tom Watson (until May 29th).

“We’re thrilled that it’s coming back for this UK wide tour. We’re really excited to be working with Giovanna Fletcher, playing the leading role of Rachel Watson.”
