Salford residents should brace for snow and ice, as temperatures are set to drop into minus figures this week.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice for Thursday 9 January.
The warning has been put in place as temperatures are expected to go as low as -8 degrees, according to the Met Office website.
With the weather expected to be “largely dry with a few showers along the coast during the early hours.
“Elsewhere, very cold under the clear skies with a severe frost, icy stretches and some freezing fog.”
Temperatures will fall into negative double figures in the coldest areas during the next few nights and a few locations may see minimum temperatures as low as minus 16 Celsius 🥶 pic.twitter.com/gHiui2CS6a

As temperatures begin to drop, residents should take caution travelling as the wintry conditions will make driving conditions dangerous.
And as ice and snow conditions continue to develop residents should avoid some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
Negative temperatures are expected to persist until Friday 9 January 9am, with the Met Office encouraging residents to wrap up warm.
And those driving should prepare for the event of delays, with “warm clothing, food, water, a blanket, a torch, ice scraper/de-icer, a warning triangle, high visibility vest and an in-car phone charger.”
Residents should take precaution across Salford, as temperatures are expected to only go as high as two degrees today (January 8 2025).
The Met Office has also warned residents to avoid icy surfaces to prevent the chance of slips and falls.
