A brand new choir in Salford is encouraging people from all walks of life to come together and connect through song.
Monton’s newest choir Vocal Sounds, has been founded by friends who loved music but couldn’t find a local choir that fit the diverse needs. .
The new choir will be forming this year, encouraging those to be imaginative and fun in the community.
Those who wish to join the choir will be able to join the harmony at their Open Houses at Monton Unitarian Church Hall.
Vocal Sounds are hosting two open house events on January 25 from 2pm to 4pm, and February 15 from 7pm to 9pm.
Residents who attend the Open House events can expect to be welcomed with hot drinks and cakes, as well as singing and socialising.
The choir will look to invite members of Salford, to boost health and wellbeing, building friendships and improving confidence through performance.
Residents in the community will be able to attend with the choir opening their doors no matter of the musical background, welcoming voices of all types and experience.
Christine Gibson one of the founding members of Vocal Sounds said: “We’ve created a space where differences are celebrated, and everyone feels like they belong.
“Whether you’re a seasoned singer or just starting, we want you to walk through our doors and feel instantly at home.”
Christine continued: “We welcome everyone, from complete beginners to experienced singers. No auditions, no pressure—just a love for singing.”
The choir will also aim to prevent loneliness in the community and band people together, as Christine added: “Preventing loneliness is central to our mission.
“Choirs naturally foster connection and friendship, creating a space where people can feel seen and heard.
“Through shared songs, laughter, and support, Vocal Sounds aims to combat isolation and build a close-knit, uplifting community,” Christine added.
Vocal Sounds will also be led by Music Director Siân Davies, who has been professionally trained at the Royal Northern College of Music and a wealth of experience in choral and opera performance.
As Christine added: “With Siân Davies’s expert guidance, we’ll explore a diverse repertoire ranging from classical to pop, gospel, and even world music.
“Our goal is to keep rehearsals dynamic, engaging, and fun, while also reaching out to the community with concerts and special events.”
Future members can also look forward to four to five concerts a year, as well as private bookings, showcasing a variety of musical styles to keep things exciting.
