The King’s Arms is set to be entertained as theatre, film, and television director returns to direct Brian Friel’s play, Faith Healer.
The director David Thacker will return to the awarding winning pub theatre on Bloom Street hoping to dazzle audiences.
Thacker who has been known for directed over 150 theatre productions and various television productions including A Doll’s House which was BAFTA nominated.
David will be taking the reigns of Brian Friel’s play, following his previous success at the King’s Arms with the American Buffalo.
And he will be back to wow audiences once again with Friel’s haunting, gripping masterpiece.
David Thacker said: “American Buffalo,was an extremely satisfying and creative experience for me, tackling a complex and emotionally powerful play with a small cast of talented and committed actors.
“We shared a wish to bring to life a great play, that may be unknown to many young or first-time theatregoers in our audience.”
David continued: “The King’s Arms, the small friendly pub theatre on the border of Manchester and Salford, within walking distance of Manchester City Centre, was the perfect theatre for the play.”
Thacker’s rendition of Faith Healer will run at the Kings Arms from January 15 until January 19.
And he will be hoping to capture one of the most significant plays of the twentieth century (according to the National Theatre.
As he said: “Faith Healer is equally challenging, and I am delighted to have the chance to direct it here.
“Rehearsals are proving to be very enjoyable, and we all feel it is a great privilege and huge responsibility to bring this wonderful play to life for our audience – but one that we relish.”
The play will feature well-established actors, including Vicky Binns, playing the role of Grace – she has featured in Netflix’s Black Mirror, Casualty, and made appearances on Emmerdale and Coronation Street.
The character of Frank Hardy will also be played by Colin Connor, who won best Actor in the 2016 Manchester Theatre Awards for his performance in A View from the Bridge.
Colin Connor has also recently featured on Disney + Say Nothing and Hope Street on BBC One.
The duo will also share the stage with Rupert Hill, who will play the role of Teddy.
Rupert is also a well-equipped actor featuring in the BBC’s Casualty, Doctors, Eastenders, Holby City, as well as being best known for his roles as Jamie Baldwin in Coronation Street.
The experienced cast will come together, and tell the story of Frank Hardy, his partner Grace and manager travelling in a small van to remote villages in Wales and Scotland.
The trio embark on the journey hoping to find an audience for Frank’s apparently miraculous healing.
Throughout the journey, audiences will be taken on a journey as the as they share the troubled thoughts and unresolved mysteries of their lives.
As the group retrace their journeys along the long and winding road that leads them back to Ireland and a fateful night in Ballybeg.
Faith Healer will be held at the established pub and theatre and will look to entertain – shows will be held from 7:30pm from the January 15 until the 18th.
And performances will also be held from 2:30pm on January 17 till the 19th.
