The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning as icy and snow are expected to cause disruption across Salford.
Yellow weather warnings for snow and ice are in place until Wednesday with Salford residents advised to take precautions especially when travelling.
Tonight residents across Salford are expected to see “wintry showers and icy stretches” overnight.
Met Office chief meteorologist, Frank Saunders, said: “Hail, sleet or snow showers are expected to affect parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, spreading to Wales and parts of northwest England this evening.
“Icy stretches which develop overnight as a result of these showers, or the recent wet conditions, could bring some disruption to travel.”
He continued: “The heaviest snow showers may also produce temporary accumulations of 0-2 cm at low levels. It is not possible to say exactly where this snow might fall, so it’s important that people are prepared.”
Further snow and ice warnings come into effect later today, covering many parts of the UK.
Even outside of these areas, there will be a risk of ice.

Residents should take precautions when travelling as frost is likely to form, affecting roads and railways where journey times could be longer.
Snowy, wintry weather can cause delays and make driving conditions dangerous.
Those travelling are encouraged to leave the house five minutes earlier than normal to prevent the risk of accidents, slips, and falls.
The forecast for Salford includes some sunny spells between scattered showers, mixing rain, sleet, snow and hail on Tuesday before a severe overnight frost.
And although the weather warnings have been dropped from Wednesday, temperatures are expected to go to -2 degrees throughout the rest of the week.
