Plans for a £250 million state-of-the-art data centre in Salford have been revealed in the hope of bringing new jobs to the city.
Developers want to create a data centre on the site of the old White’s waste recycling centre on Liverpool Road, Eccles, and are seeking planning permission to demolish the remaining buildings to make way for the new centre.
The plans for the centre between Eccles and Irlam aim to support tech company development in the area and add momentum to the regeneration already under way.
Apprenticeships and training opportunities would be a priority at the centre which would be close to Salford Community Stadium.
The development would include parking, servicing and landscaping according to the plans submitted by DLD Salford, a vehicle of Digital Land & Development.
The new plan comes several months after Salford City Council approved other plans designed by Peel Waters to create eight separate data units on the site.
The planning reference for further details of the new scheme is PA/2024/1810 on Salford City Council’s planning portal.
