A series of festive events have been announced for MediaCity to mark the lead up to Christmas.
Throughout December, residents and visitors will have the chance to enjoy a range of free and paid for events to get them in the Christmas spirit.
The season will kick off with this year’s annual Lightwaves festival, which will illuminate the district from tomorrow (December 5).
Here is a full round-up of events:
Lightwaves Salford – presented by Quays Culture
The art trail will run from December 5 to 8 with 14 illuminated artworks and a special extended run of the showstopping water-based ‘Monad’ artwork until December 22.
The giant projection-based artwork by Anastasia Isachsen, Monad, consists of a huge, spectacular video projection using a mist of water as a screen, accompanied by a beautiful music composition by the renowned jazz composer Arve Henriksen.
This year’s spectacular trail consists of 14 art installations, five of which are brand new and having their world premiere in MediaCity.
Quays Culture, who create large-scale arts and culture events is inviting people to explore a “trail of dramatic light art installations that animate and transform the waterside” around Salford Quays.
