The month of November seemed to be a turning point for Salford City, as they were able to hit a good run of form heading into the festive period.
The winter fixtures that are known to come round thick and fast, saw Karl Robinson’s side improve dramatically with a run of three wins, one draw and one loss.
The Ammies, who currently sit 15th in the League Two, following disappointing results against Carlisle (1-0) and a draw to Doncaster (1-1).
Salford’s league form has been let them down, however, it is the FA Cup where Salford have truly found their form.
Karl Robinson’s side have been able to go on a historical club run this campaign with a 2-1 over Shrewsbury Town in the first round and following up with a 2-0 victory against Cheltenham Town.
The cup results have seen the Ammies book their place in the third round of the competition for the first time in the club’s history.
Salford’s additional win also came in the EFL Trophy beating Wolverhampton Wanderers under 21’s team 3-2, a turning point for the side, following previous defeats in the competition against Wrexham and Port Vale.
And the Ammies players were able to share the goals with Matty Lund, Jez Davies and Cole Stockton finishing the month of November as the top scorers with two goals each.
Both Lund and Davies scored braces in respective games against Shrewsbury and Wolves U21’s, with additional goalscorers including 21 year old English striker Kylian Kouassi and on loan striker from Everton, Francis Okoronkwo who registered his second goal of the campaign.
However, despite only playing in five fixtures the Ammies improved their discipline only picking up eleven yellow cards – ten less than the previous month.
The positive turnaround for the Ammies will be essential for the club, as they prepare for six games throughout December.
Salford will be looking to use this momentum to aim to get their first win in two league fixtures.
And that mission will start tomorrow, with Karl Robinson’s side in a tight battle against 17th placed Harrogate Town.
Salford City fans can also join in on the clubs matches, with multiple home games scheduled for December as they go up against Notts County, Barrow and Morecambe at the Peninsula.
With only two games away from home, Gillingham and Accrington Stanley, it seems that they Ammies will have the advantage.
But despite the upcoming league fixtures, Salford will have their eyes on the FA Cup 3rd round draw, which takes place this evening at Old Trafford, with everyone involved in the club hoping for big draw and a spot in the 4th round.
