Salford Christmas event this year

With the festive season fast approaching, Salford Community Libraries are hosting a number of events for Christmas. 

And there will be many locations across Salford hoping to make this year a very happy Christmas.

The Salford Community libraries include the following –

The Eccles Library – Barton Lane

Children will have the chance to create and decorate their very own gingerbread house on Saturday 7th December, between 10:30-11:30am.

The event is free of charge and part of a number of ‘Christmas Crafts’ events being run by Salford Community Libraries.

On Wednesday 11 December, the library will play host to a candlelit concert, with a performance from the all-female group, String Infusion.

The event is recommended for people aged 12 and over, with a ticket priced at £6 per person.

Doors will open at 6:30pm  with the concert expected to run from 7pm until 9pm.

Broughton Library – Rigby Street, Lower Broughton 

Throughout December an additional three painting workshops will run at Broughton library, all free of charge.

On Wednesday 11 December, the painting session will run from 3pm until 4:30pm.

Throughout the festive workshop at the library, guests will have the opportunity to paint and create your own festive suncatcher card.

Alternatively, on Thursday 12 December, two workshops will run from 3pm until 4pm, and 4pm until 5pm respectively, where children can create their own Menorah suncatcher card for Hannukah.

Pendleton Library – Pendleton Gateway

Pendleton locals will also have the chance to be creative this Christmas, with parents and children being offered the chance to create colour their own stockings and Christmas cards.

The event that will run on Saturday 14 December will allow guests to come visit the Salford library from 10:30am until 11:30am.

The Christmas activity isn’t all that is on offer, with families being welcomed to  ‘The Wintertime Storytime Singalong Express’.

The singlong express will be open from Friday 20 December, and will run from 10am until 12pm, and has been described a “magical morning of stories, songs, and laughter.”

The event will be hosted by storyteller Dommy B, and is a collaboration between Salford Community Leisure and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

With the Dolly Parton Imagination Library sharing the mission to “inspire a love of reading in children, offering free books to children under five in the community.”

Little Hulton and Lower Kersal Libraries

This December there will be opportunity for Salford families to join in the festive celebration, with children being able to help ‘Elfvis’ pick out the perfect present for Father Christmas.

The events will be hosted at Little Hulton library on Tuesday 3 December, and will go onto Wednesday 4 December at Lower Kersal library.

The sessions will run from 1:30pm to 2:15pm, and has been described as the perfect introduction to theatre in a relaxed environment.”

Swinton and Walkden Libraries

Two Salford libraries will be hosting two craft events, allowing children to create festive gifts.

The events will be held a week apart, with both of them being held between 10:30am to 11:30am.

The Swinton Library will be hosting a colouring workship on Saturday 7 December, where kids can create their own Christmas bag and card.

While the Walkden Library will be hosting the opportunity to paint your own ceramic Christmas tree on Saturday 14 December.

Amongst all of these events, all included libraries will host self-led Christmas trails from Monday 2nd December all the way up to Christmas Eve.
