A Salford resident has undergone an ambitious plan this November running 60 km for the men’s mental health.
The charity fundraiser was dedicated to Movember saw a Salford local resident trace a huge number 60 across Greater Manchester.
The big running event will completed by George Frewer, who will be looking to complete the ultra-marathon challenge over two days.
The ambitious challenge will see George run across the region across both the November 30 and December 1.
The huge challenge will be used to raise awareness for the global statistics that 60 men die from suicide every 60 minutes.
As an ambassador of Movember, George completes a fundraising challenge every year.
Movember is a charity based around men’s mental health mainly in November and encourages men to speak out and holds various different running events including Morunning.
And with this being his biggest challenge he shared his reasoning behind having struggled a bit with my mental health in the past.
“And having just seen other other men going through the same thing, I was able to reach out and talk to friends and get through it.”
Hoping to raise awareness on the horrifying statistics about men’s suicide he shared that was his plan with the fundraiser.
He continued: “So I my reason for supporting November is to try and encourage men to reach out and talk to people, to share their problems and to normalise having conversations.”
He plans to run around Salford, however his run will extend into Prestwich area.
The challenge that will stretch across two days, with one of the days being completed in a large walking group, with the second day being all focused on running.
He continued: “I do one of these big challenges every year, and normally we just walk.
“And this year I decided that I wanted to step it up and make it a little bit more challenging, so adding that running element.”
As one of the leaders of the monton runners group he wanted to incorporate running elements to make the challenge more exciting.
Over all the years of being a Movember ambassador, George has been able to raise over £10,000, also completing the MoRunning Liverpool Half Marathon.
When speaking about his personal run he said: “I do one of these big challenges every year, but this year I decided to step it up and challenge and the reason for that I wanted to running to be a part of that challenge.”
However, this year he wanted to make the challenge a little different and have an overall theme.
Eventually deciding on running the shape of the number 60, a hugely important figure surrounding men’s suicide.
The 60 every hour is a prominent figure throughout all of these events and has clearly been an inspiration for George.
