Mourning the death of Baby A

The Little Hulton community are mourning the loss of a baby found on Ravenscraig Road near Ashtons Field yesterday afternoon.

The baby who remains unidentified, has been visited by locals at the scene today who have been leaving flowers, teddies, gifts and heartfelt cards in memory of the body now named ‘Baby A’.

The Greater Manchester Police labelled the baby as ‘Baby A’ last night during a press conference held by Greater Manchester Police Chief Superintendent Neil Blackwood.

Around the scene, cards have been placed around the scene that read things such as ‘Goodnight God bless little one’ and ‘Rest in peace baby A you’re in our hearts’.

There has also been a sympathy card that has been laid down by Greater Manchester Police for Baby A.

The scene is occasionally passed by the public slowing down to watch or hand gifts to the police to be placed, it has been quiet as many locals remain distant to show their respect for the baby.

Locals have found this such a shock, and many have been left heartbroken for the young baby and its family.

Journalists remain stationed at the police line, with a forensic tent set in place of where the body was discovered yesterday.

At this current time, the Salford GMP have shared: “We are working with local partner agencies to understand who this baby could be, how long they’ve been here and how they’ve come to sadly die.”

Officers have been at the scene for over 24 hours and a wellbeing van has arrived to offer support for those working at the scene.

The GMP want to reassure residents that they will do all they can to find out what happened and urge anyone who has any information to get in touch, even if it is a minor detail.

As Chief Superintendent Neil Blackwood stated last night: “Even the most minor detail could be crucial to our investigation. If you have seen anyone in the area over the last few days, or know who the parents could be, please call us as soon as you can.

You can get in touch by ringing 101 and quoting log 1319 of 20/11/24, or if you wish to remain anonymous you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or it can be done online.
