Salford Charity Foundation 92

A Salford charity has launched that will aim to provide opportunity to develop new skills and build confidence, whilst tackling local issues.

Foundation 92 have unveiled a new 12 month Community Ambassador Programme, that will aim to offer young people between the ages of 11-16 to make a difference in the community.

The scheme by the charity will aim to bring older and younger generations together to explore ways to create more connected communities.

The  charity project will come under #iwill movement that has been used to celebrate the work that young people do across the UK to improve their lives and communities through social action.

Clarion Futures, the charitable foundation of Clarion Housing Group, as well as Places for People and Sovereign Network Group, have provided funding for the project.

Alongside this, the #iwill fund, which is supported by a £66m investment, have also contributed to the cause.

The #Iwill movement have organised #Iwill week that will celebrate the work that young people do across the UK, as they aim to improve their lives and communities through social action.

Previous Community Ambassador-led projects have included intergenerational sessions in care homes, creation of a wheelchair accessible beach boardwalk, and a community fun day with activities designed for all ages to bring communities together.

Jess Peers, Head of Youth Programmes at Foundation 92, said: “We’re delighted to be a part of this great initiative alongside Clarion Futures, supporting inter-generational work across the city of Salford.

“We can’t wait to get started and support young people across the city, to tackle local issues.”

And this seems to be shared by the Clarion Futures, as Head of Communities at Clarion Futures, Matt Parsonage shared: “We’re excited to be teaming up with Foundation 92 on this new phase of our long-running youth social action programme which focuses on changing perceptions.

“Working alongside trusted partners who are deeply rooted in their communities, through early engagement with social action we hope that this programme will help create a habit for life for young residents.

“Collaboration between generations has been shown to have such positive effects, and so this remains at the heart of the programme, with projects designed to bring people together to tackle shared challenges.”

Organisations are able to apply for grants of up to £10,000 to aid intergeneration social action programmes.
